The Forest in Your Backyard

Western Newfoundland Model Forest

Course Description:

What does the forest mean to you? Is it a source of firewood, pulpwood and lumber, a home for wildlife, a playground for outdoor enthusiasts, or a living laboratory of plant life? During this week-long field course, you will explore these and other values, as well as practical information on how to interpret and share diverse values with public audiences.

Featuring some of the province’s best resource managers, educators and interpreters, you will learn about the boreal forest and the diversity of values that must be considered in order to manage Newfoundland and Labrador’s environmental resources on a sustainable basis. (Be prepared to spend a considerable amount of time outdoors participating in non-strenuous activities.)

Location:

Killdevil Camp and Conference Centre, Gros Morne National Park.

Registration Fee:
