May 1999 - May 2006

Keywords
Education, Promotion, Forest Week

Objective
To create an awareness of the Western Newfoundland Model Forest Week through educational activities, public interaction and media relations.

Description
National Forest Week takes place annually in the month of May. Activities include circulating information packages to local schools, promoting the Western Newfoundland Model Forest and National Forest Week through media relations, interacting with the general public via an information display, and enhancing forest awareness in students through classroom presentations. During 2002, performances of “Ask Me If I’m A Tree”, an educational clown show about forest ecology were presented in nine schools in western and central Newfoundland. This promotion of National Forest Week proves to be successful in increasing awareness of the Western Newfoundland Model Forest.
