Swampy Red Currant, Ribes triste Pall.
Saxifragaceae

Height: A reclining or sprawling shrub.

Twigs: Stems are smooth and without prickles.

Buds: Brownish and have more than 5 scales.

Leaves: 5-lobed, 5-8 cm across and usually single-toothed, smooth above and usually hairy beneath.

Flowers: Greenish-purplish, in drooping clusters 2.5-5 cm long. The flower stalks have glandular hairs. Blooms in June.

Fruit: Smooth red berries and edible. Ripen by early August.

Habitat: Found in damp woods and ravines. Recorded only from the west coast, the Great Northern Peninsula, and southern and central Labrador.
