On behalf of the Western Newfoundland Model Forest (WNMF) Partnership, I am pleased to welcome you to our Web site.

This site reflects a wealth of work, partnership, cooperation and progress in sustainable forest management over the last 12 years. As you browse through its pages, keep in mind that above all, the goal of the WNMF partnership is to enhance sustainable forest management in Newfoundland and Labrador, and to work with partners and forest stakeholders to ensure our forests remain healthy and viable long into the future.

As a partnership, the WNMF has worked with provincial stakeholders, the national Model Forest network, and the Canadian Forest Service to focus on issues of strategic importance such as applied ecosystem research, sustainable forest management support, facilitation, communications, and education.

Now in Phase 3 of our program, our strategic role is further strengthened as we continue to focus on applied research, integrating sustainable forest management research and knowledge among our partners and stakeholders, and proactive communication both within and beyond our model forest boundaries.
